BIO

Bananasoverdose is a 25 year old Somali singer/rapper/songwriter who grew up in Saudi Arabia. Active since 2019 BOD is known for her bold lyrics, passionate vocals, multilingualism, playfulness, and her emotive, honest delivery. The body positive artist is often compared to Erykah Badu, Rihanna, Doja Cat, and M.I.A. She writes her music from a passionate, and personal perspective. She has been experimenting with her vocal range and it can go from an Erykah badu blues and jazz range to as deep as a female voice can get. And that inspired her to tap into her versatility that came with her being a third culture kid which allows her to jump between genres.
Her way of raising above cultural/religious barriers allowed her creativity to flow while crafting engaging stories and catchy developed melodies while bringing so much excitement to the audience with her captivating presence whenever she hits a stage.
Bananas has found inspiration in Erykah Badu, K'naan, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. Her debut album "Conscious Xalimo" is set for release on August 26th which marks international women's equality day alongside an art installation to give a full experience. The album is raw and it advocates for women's rights but still has a fun element that will still have the listeners nod, it includes music that speaks against misogyny, sexual assault, catcalling, and FGM in the Somali community as she first handedly survived all of that. This album is inspired by a Somali freestyle titled "Fuckboy Farax" she's released on YT that blew up within Somali Tiktok globally and still is trending.
